We can also learn things from the doctoral seminar this semester. Should explore IRB stuff ASAP
Analogy to P/Synthesis Infrastructure? What proportion of (hidden, maybe) cost to doing research is in the fact that Z: Most scholarly communication infrastructure operates on the document as the base unit?
In general, we really need to ground the whole P/Synthesis Infrastructure work in the MIS Knowledge Management world: it is a close cousin of what we're doing, and lots of the insights we are building on were in the context of these organizational Knowledge Management systems (cf. @ackermanSharingKnowledgeExpertise2013)
Reading again this quote in @edwards2007understanding while thinking about Z: Prefer to accrete new infrastructures on top of existing ones - I think the moment we are in for P/Synthesis Infrastructure is somewhere in the gateway phase of infrastructure growth
Several pieces and talks by Berna Devezer about the insufficiency of reproducibility for advancing discovery, also making the case for formal methods (possibly synthesis) - reminded me of the argument that Z: Scientific fields stall without adequate theoretical synthesis, even if reproducibility is maintained. Possible connections to P/Synthesis Infrastructure?
